Part of the history of the word “worship” is an Old English word that meant “worth-ship”. Part of what we are attempting to participate in when we worship is giving God what God is worth. That’s a high goal for limited human beings to the eternal, all powerful, Creator of Heaven and Earth. This is why in worship we should open something deep within and be transformed for having participated in the experience. Let our hearts and minds be transformed as we gather to worship Christ today. Psalm 47 will help us as we attempt to give the King what he is worth.
