The world of the Bible is very different from our lives today. Family, community, and even national identity were much tighter thousands of years ago. Changes in mobility and communication doesn’t mean we can’t have close relationships, but strong connection and sharing of values spanning multiple generations is much harder than it once was. This part of our culture has seeped into the church. As much as we gather multiple generations each week, how much thought do we give to what God has planned for the future of the church? Let us be inspired to invest in God’s mission that never ends. Matthew 6:19-21 will be our guide.
