In this time of division it is very easy to see where the lines get drawn between us and them, between who is right and who is wrong. Christians can engage with the political issues of the day, but what does Jesus’ call on our lives mean for the ways we address those we disagree with, dislike, and those who stand opposed to us? Jesus very clearly calls his followers to live differently towards such groups of people, telling us that love and mercy are the leading edges of the Christian’s life in this world. Do love and mercy mean we don’t stand for convictions or never advocate for morals in our world? Of course not, but we are going to need some help from Jesus to sort some of this out! Let’s hear from Christ in Luke 6:27-38 as we gather in worship today.
