Dietrich Bonhoeffer is rightly known for his theological writing. Yet it was his love for Christ and the Church that had him return to Germany at the height of Hitler’s reign when he could have stayed abroad in safety. This shows his biggest asset to God’s Kingdom was a heart that rivaled his brilliant mind. One of his greatest calls to pastors and churches living under the influence of Nazi Germany was to take the call of scripture seriously to live deeply in Christian community. We will be inspired by faithfulness as Ephesians 2:19-22 help us seek God’s heart in worship.
