The season of Advent is upon us. Unlike some of our holiday traditions that spark nostalgia or good feelings as we dress up our surroundings, Advent is meant to help us more deeply engage with the truth of the season. We are people who have received Christ as our Savior, and yet we wait in the midst of a broken world to see all his promises come to fruition. In all of this, we ask the question inspired by the hymn, “How does a weary world rejoice?” We answer that question this week with the help of our first Advent candle.
