It seems that we will often idealize those relationships that from the outside seem to be “perfect”. Never a fight or a struggle is seen to be bliss. If such a relationship exists it doesn’t mean it has more love than a relationship that has some wrestling and disagreements at times. The same is often true for those who see faith as a relationship with Jesus. This week we let Genesis 32:22-24 help us see how God used conflict in Jacob’s life to bring about a change that has changed the world ever since. Jesus comes to us from a people who wrestled with God. What is the Holy Spirit doing in our midst this second Sunday of Advent?
