Even today, Bethlehem is only a little more than twice as big as Springville. Not the type of place where world leaders or people of influence might pick for an important event. It was far smaller 2,000 years ago and seemingly just as unlikely to host the most important visit in the history of the world. It was in this small, out of the way place, that God entered the world as a human. It is Advent, week 3, and this week’s Roots series will help us reflect on what it means for us that Jesus comes to us from a place. Matthew 2:4-6 will help guide our hearts like that star once did for those looking for God’s joy.
